Are you REALLY listening?

Attending a Mediation Training recently I learned a lot about listening. This was surprising to me at first because I do a lot of listening as a professional Coach but I discovered that it is both more difficult and more important to listen during conflict. However, our instinct is to do more telling than listening and things can escalate quickly once this is the pattern. Whether it is a conflict you are involved in (probably the most challenging) or one you are a third party to, the value of listening gets 'amped up' considerably.
